The battery that comes with a GM vehicle is covered by the limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles (48 months/4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, for Cadillac, Buick and HUMMER) and should be taken back to the GM dealership. What is the warranty on the battery that came with my vehicle? It says that it has a six-year warranty. If it was already in the car when you bought it than you are out of luck. I have heard that they can go off of some number on the battery but the ones I have replaced have always been ones we previously installed. The only other problem is you have to have proof of purchase to establish the sale date. That is a replacement battery, and since the tag (the area inside the red dotted line, thats how we tell if it was installed while the car was still under factory warranty or not) is still on it means someone bought it after the OE warranty was out.
